Bored or Angry? Protest or Parade?: South Carolinians Call for Re-Open of SC

Updated: Apr 25, 2020

HONK. USA! HONK! HONK! HOOOOONK!!! USA! TRUMP! USA! HONK HONK HONK. This was my life while covering the "Re-Open SC" event yesterday. By organizational standards this was considered a protest, judging by the mood of majority of the participants and the signage they had on their cars, it really felt like a soft-core Trump parade. There were a few confederate battle flags sported in the parade although I'm not sure how they are relevant to Covid-19 and reopening SC, but I have my ideas. To add a little bit of flavor there was anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theorist, and a whole lot of anti-science being blasted over megaphones..
The event showed attendance of about 150 participants (majority motorist and a few street side protesters) and ran a little bit over and hour. Motorist circled the block numerous times to present the illusion that they came in great numbers. There were a handful of counter-protesters and even a reference to The Netflix series Tiger King.

Here's a live stream from the event:

Nursing Study Strategies That Save Time
For nursing students, time can feel like the hardest subject on the timetable. Between lectures, clinical preparation, readings, assignments, examinations, and personal responsibilities, there is rarely enough time to do everything perfectly. The solution is not always studying for longer. It is learning how to use available time more effectively. Students can improve their academic routine by combining focused study sessions, active learning, organized research, and realistic planning. When coursework becomes especially demanding, online class help can provide additional academic support while students work toward better understanding and stronger study habits.
Stop Treating Every Task as Equally Important
A common reason nursing students feel overwhelmed is that every task appears urgent.
Instead of looking at…
Strengthening Nursing Practice Through Patient Monitoring, Care Planning, and Health Promotion
Nursing professionals contribute to healthcare by monitoring patient conditions, organizing appropriate care, and helping individuals understand their health needs. These responsibilities require clinical knowledge, careful observation, and effective communication. Students exploring a capella flexpath tutor resource may also be interested in developing the academic skills needed to understand nursing concepts and apply them to realistic situations. Through consistent learning and reflection, future nurses can become more confident in evaluating patient information, identifying priorities, and supporting safe and organized care across different healthcare settings.
Developing Consistent Patient Monitoring Practices
Patient monitoring helps nurses understand whether a person's condition is stable, improving, or becoming more concerning. Depending on the situation, monitoring…
Reopening or restarting an activity can involve several steps that need to be coordinated carefully. Looking at agile vs waterfall provides an interesting perspective on how teams can manage planned stages while still responding to new information as a project develops.
Reading about these intense protests really makes me appreciate how vast and varied the world is. Sometimes, when the news gets too heavy or local politics feel overwhelming, I find it relaxing to just "travel" somewhere else entirely. I’ve been spending time on world guesser lately, which drops you into random street views across the globe. It’s a great way to disconnect and explore different countries from your screen. It’s completely free and doesn’t even require a sign-up, which is a nice change of pace from all the noise online.
It sounds like things were pretty intense out there with all that frustration building up. When everyone is feeling cooped up and stressed by the current situation, it’s easy to see why people are looking for any kind of outlet. Honestly, when I need to blow off some steam and just zone out for a while, I’ve been getting into polytrack online. It’s a super chill low-poly racing game that’s perfect for clearing your head without needing to download anything. Sometimes you just need a distraction from all the chaos in the world.
